Council raises penalties from $500 to $1m dollars

Leader of the Barbuda People’s Movement (BPM) Trevor Walker said the Antigua & Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP) administration, through the Barbuda Finance Administration and Enforcement Bill, is seeking to increase penalties for Barbudans who break the law from $500 to $1 million, with jail time to five years. Walker said the council, which is weighted eight ALP members to three BPM, approved the amendment in December 2015.
