Barbuda has had a gradually declining representation of the Antigua Labour Party on Barbuda, in spite of their ever increasing huge election budget, sophisticated social media presence and apparent popularity in Antigua. Recently Kendra Beazer was nominated as their candidate for Barbuda MP in the upcoming ‘snap’ election. In a previous life Kendra was an elected BPM Councillor who was unable to pursue his ambition to become the first (and youngest) Barbudan Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda under BPM and their non-existent election budget and social media presence.

The ALP’s intermittent success in local elections in the past few decades gave them occasional control over the Barbuda Council, mostly in order to facilitate their vision of using Barbuda’s land as the ‘bread basket’ for Antigua. However, their popularity sank to an all time low after Hurricane Irma, when Gaston Browne called Barbudans imbeciles and economic terrorists at a time when compassion would have been more appropriate.
