The Battle of the Land Registries

Hmmm…

The Barbuda Council have granted all kinds of lands free to Barbudans for centuries, keeping their own oral and written land registry, and in some cases individually accepting back-handers and/or favours for allocating land to others at preferential rates in return for things like Christmas Dinner, a ‘Council’ Truck, a Helicopter Ride etc etc.

The Antigua Government have taken back-handers and/or favours or simply helped themselves to land for their friends and themselves, and other resources like sand and marl, and now (with help from the Privy Council and the Antigua and Barbuda Defence Force) are starting the new land registry – which obvs you have to pay them for.

Maybe some Barbudans need to lose it all before it really sinks in.
