Sport is encouraged in school from an early age and supported in the community through two sports-designated Barbuda Council workers, but as in most communities it’s the volunteers who are keen to give young people interests, skills and opportunities to take part in sport. The basketball and tennis courts have been re-surfaced since Irma, horse-racing, cricket and athletics are still popular and their are year round fishing events, a triathlon and keep fit.

Visitors come to Barbuda for surfing and kite surfing from time to time and boat trips, kayaks and other activities are on offer. There is no Dive Centre on Barbuda but tanks are available to hire. You can also go horse or donkey riding – just ask someone on a horse or a donkey!
