bb: Hi James, what is your full name and how old are you?
JJ: It’s James Jermaine John and I was born on October 31st 1990 in Barbuda, so I am twenty years old.
bb: What do you do for work, James?
JJ: I am currently doing a joinery training programme with the Barbuda Council, it’s an Apprenticeship scheme and we work with materials such as MDF, wood or with recycled wood and even tree stumps. Only today I made a stool for my house.
bb: What do you do in your spare time, do you have any hobbies?
JJ: As usual we hang around and get into trouble… (he chuckles) I enjoy going fishing for lobsters (and I caught the ones above today) and playing computer games. Also I enjoy keeping fit and I play football, and I used to run for my island.
bb: What are your plans for the future?
JJ: I would like to see how far I can get with joinery and see what I can do with it, as I hope to work in that industry. I don’t plan to stay in Barbuda for my whole life, maybe three more years and then work somewhere else to earn more money. Then I think I will come back to have my own business and to teach other young people and employ the children of the future!
bb: Thank you James, we wish you well for the future.
