Surfing

There is increasing international interest in Barbuda as a destination for surfing and kite/foil surfing – no crowds, miles of empty beach and some of the most consistent winds and small-but-fast waves in the Caribbean. Palmetto Point has huge swells at certain times and is a favourite with surfers but access to the beach is now difficult as a result of fencing by Barbuda Ocean Club for their golf course, as the link above explains. Low Bay is (apparently) better for kites and Frangipani has had kite surfers who say it’s great once you find your way through the reef – but not for beginners.
