Cruise ships to visit Barbuda

Tourism Authority CEO Colin James has confirmed on OBSERVER AM this morning thatfrom 2014, smaller cruise vessels will be making calls in Barbuda as a result of an incentive package that gives cruise ship operators two islands for the price of one. As Barbuda does not have a deep water harbour, the cruise vessels will anchor and passengers will be ferried ashore on their own smaller boats, as has happened in past attempts to bring cruise ships to our island. Hopefully this will be a carefully thought out process that ensures Barbudans will benefit more from this than the cruise ship industry.
