Workers of the Barbuda Council will return to a five-day week after several months of working only three days, resulting in financial hardship to many since September 2015. Lionel Max Hurst said Cabinet will find the cash to pay a record number of nearly 600 employees on the payroll. In addition they will find US $200,000 to pay Social Security for outstanding amounts owed to the Barbuda Council and complete the reverse osmosis plant.
