Three Day Week for Council workers

The Observer reports that the Antigua & Barbuda Workers Union (ABWU) is calling for a stay on the Barbuda Council’s decision to institute a three-day workweek for the nearly 600 employees on the sister isle. General Secretary, David Massiah said the council acted prematurely before discussing its financial challenges with the workers’ bargaining agent. The general secretary said the union is usually given at least two months’ notice when an employer is considering restructuring an organisation.
