The Abundant Life Radio is Barbuda's only Christian radio station. The Evangelist Clifton François, his wife Michal James-François, and several Barbudans broadcast daily on 103.1 MHz and 103.9Mhz.
The Holy Trinity Church is part of the worldwide Anglican community as a parish in the North-eastern Caribbean and Aruba Diocese. This church holds a very special place in the Barbudan community; it was established during the days of slavery as the first church on the island. The Anglican Church introduced education in Barbuda and governed and operated the Holy Trinity School from its inception until 1950, when the Government of Antigua took over. Holy Trinity continues to host various interdenominational events and opens its doors to all races, creeds, and beliefs. The church celebrates the special festivals of Lent, Easter, Petronal, Harvest, Advent, and Christmas and provides a very tasty brunch during these times. At Christmas the splendid choir gives carol performances at the various hotels and programmes at the church itself.
The Holy Eucharist is celebrated on Sundays at 9.00 am, with Sunday School at 3.00 pm, and our youth group meets on Fridays at 6.00 pm. For further information contact the Rectory on (+1268) 460-0010 or Mrs Alice Webber David on (+1268) 460-0265, or Mrs Frances Beazer on (+1268) 460-0675
The Restoration Appeal - There has been an excellent response to the church restoration fund appeal. The present building, erected in 1924 after the previous one was destroyed by a hurricane in 1922, is showing some wear and tear, the ceiling in particular. Members of the vestry and congregation have embarked on a fund-raising drive by holding various events, including early morning breakfasts on Saturdays, and barbecues. We continue to ask fellow Barbudans and visitors to our congregation for assistance with the restoration of ceiling timbers and pews from extensive termite damage, and the damp that is causing the plaster to collapse. Our local architect, Chad Knight, is assisting with plans to start the major structural work, which includes raising the floor and replacing the roof, and the new plans are now on view inside the church - and pictured above. In the past we have received a great deal of support from guests at Coco Point Lodge who have donated light fixtures and fittings. We have received a plaque that was donated and presented posthumously to the Rt Revd Father Alfred Edwin Hatch-Syrett, one of the ministers and headmaster of the Holy Trinity School from 1944 to 1952.
We continue to thank all the volunteers and congregation members who contribute their funds, time and energy to the project. If you would like to know how you can help either financially - or in kind - if you have expertise that would help us please contact Mrs Frances Beazer on (+1268) 460-0675.
