old boundaries – new list

The Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court has announced its judgment on two key election related cases in Antigua and Barbuda. On the country’s proposed boundaries changes the court ruled in favour of the Opposition Antigua Labour Party, while the electoral list case judgment upheld the Government’s position. The court said there was no evidence to suggest that there was gerrymandering in the process of the boundary changes, and the electorate will now be using the new voters list to cast their ballots. 

Parliament expired over the weekend, five years after its first sitting following the last General Election. Prime Minister Baldwin Spencer had refused to dissolve the House and set a date until the cases were , with Monday’s Court judgments pending, but is now expected to announce the date immediately.
