Canadian teachers at HTS

Ben Cheung and Mike Tomlinson spent four weeks in May teaching at the Holy Trinity School. They were participating in the long-term “Health Promoting Schools” programme, sponsored annually by Scotia Bank in conjunction with the Health and Family Life programme, headed by Mrs Maureen Lewis.

As part of the UN’s Year of Sport and Health, Ben and Mike played inclusionary games to increase the participation of the school students in sports. The games encouraged sportsmanship, teamwork, and decision-making; emphasising the making of choices to benefit the community. Ben and Mike also talked about the role of sport and diet in the prevention of heart disease and diabetes.

Ben and Mike are studying at the Ontario Institute of Studies of Education of the University of Toronto, where they have been awarded BEd and BA degrees in education and physical education.
